The first Modern- Industrial Design Inspired Building located in Banale, Pagadian CIty has finally stood. A masterpiece that was envisioned by Contractor-Client, Engr Oliver Santos & Daughter-Architect Jane Santos. The building is used as their office space on the higher ground and commercial space on the lower ground. 7016 is known for uphills and mountains, thus the structure has a covered deck on the third floor out to the sea view and mountain view at the back, re-establishing the connection to nature.
Design & Construction
“ Your design will not always prevail, that’s why learn how to be flexible especially when you are working with professionals like engineers who know better in their field of work. Two heads will always be better than one.” -A personal insight from the architect.
The design initially started with two unused container vans proposed by the contractor. As time progressed, the design has extended the building area to make use of the existing space. Given the construction company’s space requirements of a long term office space, it became a necessity to add a second level for future purposes and growth. More so, during the construction phase, an additional floor was added because of the views that were seen on site. As the design and construction became bigger, it was a challenge for the studio and the construction team to follow through the design as there were a lot of changes during the whole process.
Still, despite the challenges there was harmony between design and construction. The Industrial design followed through and everything is structurally stable and sound. The structure was designed to have an industrial look by its container van skins and visible raw materials. A unique corner glass prism was added to give the structure a unique futuristic look as the team wanted the structure to be timeless. A challenge that the glass supplier was willing to take; as the corners of the prism glass had to be fastened securely and seamlessly. Truly, it is a simple marvel from the studio and the construction team to be able to build a unique space for working.

Interior and Details
The lower ground is temporarily unused as it is to be marketed as a rentable commercial space. With its own restrooms and pantry area. Moreso, In achieving the whole Industrial look, the owner’s main office which is located on the second level used polished concrete for the floors, grayish white paint for the walls, modular white and wood office tables and a wood carved decorative wall for accent as a contrast and to balance the masculinity of the industrial design.
Glass windows are on both sides of the office to achieve natural lighting which is conducive for working and visibility. Now, the structure is being visited and used by many and still creating a peaceful place to design and to work despite the construction company’s fast paced work flow.
